No matter how many times Olivier Giroud repeats how happy he is at Chelsea, the French media are going to try and link him away to a club where he could be starting regularly.

That club tends to be Marseille these days, as they are looking for a new marquee striker, and while the trend has been to try and sign someone below the age of 30 (like Mario Balotelli), bringing in a world champion wouldn’t be the worst move for the club.

That’s why Le10 Sport are still pushing for the transfer, claiming the Ligue 1 side will return to try and sign Giroud before their transfer window shuts (August 31st), especially if the 31-year-old continues to play second fiddle to Alvaro Morata.

At this point, he isn’t their top target, and they would only do so if they didn’t sign any of the younger strikers on their shortlist, but at the rate things are going, the aforementioned Italian goalscorer appears to be staying at Nice.

Giroud has said a few times he isn’t entirely enthralled at the prospect of returning to France, so it would take an impressive alignment of circumstances for this one to happen, especially since Chelsea have already loaned out Michy Batshuayi and can’t bring in a replacement.
