We’re now in full transfer window post-mortem, and a lot of failed deals are starting to appear in the media, including one from Liverpool’s end.

According to France Football, the Reds tried to sign Modibo Sagnan from Lens this summer, but were faced with a resolute Ligue 2 club who weren’t interested in letting the youngster go.

This isn’t the first time Jürgen Klopp’s side attempted this particular transfer, as the French magazine state on their website they also gave it a go in January, when they were met with the same answer.

No fee is mentioned, but considering the club’s status, it won’t have been much, but it still wasn’t enough.

Sagnan has two years left on his current contract, and has made just six appearances for the Ligue 2 side so far.

The 19-year-old, if developed correctly, could be the latest of a long list of well-known players to start their career in Lens, which includes the likes of Raphael Varane and Serge Aurier.
