At this point, there’s very little new the Italian newspapers can say about the Tiemoué Bakayoko to Milan deal that hasn’t already been said.

The Chelsea midfielder is expected to join the Serie A side on a loan for the season for a fee of €5m, and Gennaro Gattuso’s side will be able to make the deal permanent with a purchase option of €35m.

Arriving in Milan on Sunday night, the France international should put pen to paper to his new one year contract on Monday, and the deal should be made official soon after.

What is new information, however, is that, should Milan decide to spend €35m more on his services, this will trigger a four-year deal with the Serie A club.

This isn’t guaranteed, as he could still disappoint in Italy, eventually returning to Stamford Bridge come the end of the season, but it appears Gattuso has big plans for the Chelsea man, and he’s likely to be part of his starting midfield going into the new campaign.

His Blues experience might not have been what he wanted it to be, but starting anew somewhere else is better than rotting on Maurizio Sarri’s bench.
