Chelsea have rejected a loan bid from Juventus for defender Emerson Palmieri that would have seen Mattia De Sciglio going the other way.
That’s according to Corriere Torino, who say that Chelsea man remain a target for Juventus regardless of the rejection.
Palmieri has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for several months, having failed to establish himself under Frank Lampard or his predecessor Maurizio Sarri.
The arrival of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City has only helped to push him further towards the exit door, with him now second choice at left-back at best.
Juventus are known admirers, having been heavily linked while Sarri was in charge last season and maintained that interest despite his departure.
Funds are tight for the Italian giants, though, and so it appears they instead tried to get their man via a different route, proposing an ‘exchange of loans’ between Palmieri and De Sciglio.
That was ‘rejected’ by Chelsea, who presumably weren’t all that interested in another full-back given they’re well stocked in that position.
Emerson remains a target for Juve regardless, although it is made clear that the recent disagreement between Lampard and Marcos Alonso ‘could change this scenario’.
