The agent of Bayern Munich defender David Alaba is planning to start talks with Chelsea in January over a potential move.
That’s according to SportBILD journalist Christian Falk, who provides an update on Alaba’s future today.
The Bayern defender has been heavily linked with a move away from the club for several months after entering the final year of his deal.
So far he has failed to sign a new contract with the German champions, and there is a growing fear at the club that he will be leaving on a free next summer.
They may be forced to sell at a reduced price in January to ensure that doesn’t happen and numerous clubs around Europe have all been linked with making a move.
Interestingly Chelsea are not one of them given Frank Lampard has numerous options in that position, but it seems the player’s agent is determined to change that.
“The clubs who have made contact so far are not Real Madrid and Barcelona, they, at the moment, cannot simply afford him,” Falk told BILD.
“Paris Saint Germain are the first option I’ve heard but he doesn’t really want the move.
“What will be interesting now is Chelsea. His agent Pini Zahavi lives in London and has close contacts with the club.
“I heard he is trying to transfer him there and I think for him if he isn’t going to Spain, that’s a very nice city to move to.”
