On May 19th, L’Equipe published a rather hefty article on Marseille’s wish to sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea, on loan for next season.
Therefore, it’s only natural that L’Equipe cover the story again as part of their Tuesday transfer special. Some pieces of information have been added, so it’s not merely a reiteration of Marseille’s general interest.
Marseille, according to the French newspaper, have now commenced negotiations with both Chelsea and the player.
Zouma isn’t the only central defender Marseille are interested in, with Fenerbahce’s Simon Kjaer also of interest to the French club.
At 22 years of age, the central defender needs games to fully complete his return from a serious knee injury.
It’s not thought that Chelsea have any intention of selling Zouma, or including any buying option in a loan, with L’Equipe saying Marseille are keen on a ‘dry’ loan.
Zouma has a Chelsea contract until June 2019, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Premier League champions wanted to secure an extension prior to any loan.
