Yesterday, some kind of briefing went out that Chelsea were interested in Roma’s Emerson Palmieri, as most big outlets in England started reporting of Antonio Conte’s desire to bring in the Brazilian in January.

In fact, it even went as far as Calciomercato claiming a bid had been tabled by the Blues.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday are having none of it, claiming that particular story was the equivalent of #FakeNews, explaining all that’s taken place so far is a brief chat between the two sides.

Chelsea are said to be reluctant to spend big in January, and having already splashed £15m on Ross Barkley, handing out a further €25m (which is what Roma want for Emerson) isn’t something they’re looking at right now.

This means a deal for Alex Sandro, which is still being thrown around from time to time, is definitely out of the question, and Marcos Alonso will probably have to end up playing most games this season.

Unless Roma accept some kind of loan deal for Emerson, that is, but Gazzetta don’t suggest that’s on the cards for now.
