Chelsea have joined the race for AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer and could offer Jorginho to tempt the Italian side into a sale.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say Frank Lampard is eyeing up the Algerian midfielder to bolster his midfield this summer.
The website explains that Bennacer ‘continues to attract’ the attention of major European clubs, having already been linked to Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City this summer.
Chelsea also ‘have their eye’ on him, though, because Lampard is a big fan and believes he has the ‘ideal profile’ for his team.
Milan’s €50m asking price is an ‘obstacle’ for the Blues, so they are considering including a ‘technical quid pro quo in the operation’ to tempt Milan into selling.
One of the names they are considering is Jorginho, who has found himself out of favour under Lampard since he replaced Maurizio Sarri last summer.
So far, Chelsea have not taken any ‘official steps’, and there have only been simple conversations between intermediaries.
AC Milan, for their part, have maintained their stance that Bennacer is ‘non-transferable’ and they will not change that unless they receive an offer that could not be ignored
