Chelsea have reached an agreement with AC Milan for midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko to return to the Italian side.
That’s according to Sky Italia, who say the two sides have finally worked out a loan deal for the Frenchman.
Bakayoko has been linked with a move to the San Siro, where he spent the 19/20 season on loan, for several weeks after it was made clear there was no place for him at Stamford Bridge.
Negotiations between the two sides have been ongoing, and earlier today we covered a report from Gazzetta Dello Sport that said the talks were going slowly as Chelsea were demanding more money after finding the initial offers from Milan ‘unconvincing’.
It was claimed they wanted the same deal they struck in 2018, a loan worth €5m with a right to buy set at €35m.
However, it seems they’ve lowered their demands, and Sky Italia now say the two clubs have a ‘basis of understanding’ on a loan deal worth €3m with a right of redemption at €30m.
Milan already have an agreement in place with the Chelsea midfielder over his wages – he’s willing to give up part of his salary – but that is only for the year he will spend on loan.
Thus, they need to find an agreement on the years after that should they decide to turn his move into a permanent one so that everything can be ‘clearly defined’.
However, the negotiation ‘goes ahead quickly’ and Sky state there is a ‘desire’ from all parties to close it ‘as soon as possible’ as the Blues look to start shipping some players out after a busy summer of incomings so far.
