Three days ago, we relayed claims made in Italy that explained Salernitana are pushing for Tottenham Hotspur’s Pape Matar Sarr, after their manager, Davide Nicola, asked for a new midfielder in January.
The Senegal international had to wait for 18 months to make his Spurs debut and it came in their defeat to Brentford on January 1st. He also came off the bench in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace earlier this week.
Despite a lack of opportunities under Antonio Conte, his profile has attracted Salernitana. This has been confirmed by their sporting director, Morgan De Sanctis.
“We need players like Tottenham’s Sarr, he has the characteristics we want in that position on the pitch. The injuries to Maggiore, Sepe and Mazzocchi have changed our goals in the transfer market,” De Sanctis was quoted as saying by Alfredo Pedullà.
Gianluca Di Marzio also provides an update on the latest developments in this case. The Italian club ‘want to wait’ for Pape Matar Sarr as he is their ‘goal’ in January.
It’s further claimed Salernitana made ‘new contacts’ with the north London club on Friday to discuss the potential deal for the player.
De Sanctis is ‘trying’ to acquire Pape Matar Sarr’s signature even though the track leading to him is ‘difficult’. The report adds the Tottenham player will have the final say.
