Ezgjan Alioski’s transfer from Leeds United to Galatasaray could be ruined by the postponement of the club’s presidential elections.
That’s according to Fotospor, who say a change in leadership could spell bad news for the Leeds man.
Earlier this week, we covered reports from Turkey that Alioski had already agreed upon a move to the club when his contract at Elland Road expires this summer.
They explained that he has rejected a new deal at Leeds after deeming it too low and instead signed a deal with the Turkish club.
That is something he hasn’t yet announced, having elected to wait until the end of the season in fear of the response from Leeds fans, who have grown frustrated by a lack of movement on a new deal for the defender.
Fotospor now cover the situation and explain that Galatasaray will pay €900,000 a year to Alioski, who will earn around €450,000 once taxes are deducted.
That contract will last around three years but, crucially, will see him earn double what he is currently picking up at Leeds.
All that’s is waiting is the official announcement, but the ‘chaos environment’ at the club could end up preventing the transfer.
That’s in reference to the recently cancelled presidential elections, with it stated it’s not clear if the transfer will go through ‘where the dust becomes smoke’. In other words, with chaos reigning, it’s not clear if anyone will be sanctioning the deal to go through.
That might have to wait until the presidential situation is sorted, and even then, the new regime may not want Alioski after all.
That leaves his future up in the air and this long-running saga set to carry on for a while longer yet.
