The German media, specifically Bild and SportBild, love bringing Liverpool into a supposed race to sign Timo Werner.
With a contract running out in June 2020, RB Leipzig are keen to get a renewal signed and if they can’t do so by the summer then a transfer looks increasingly likely.
Less than a week ago, SportBild explained Liverpool would be the ‘perfect’ destination for the striker, and put all that down to Jurgen Klopp’s tactics.
Again, it seemed some effort to push the idea of an Anfield move. Liverpool were given five out of five stars as regards to suitability, but the claims seemed something of a stretch.
Werner’s ‘perfect’ role under Klopp would be at the expense of moving other players around, and it’s questionable whether the manager would even consider that.
Nevertheless, Bild are again pushing a potential move to the Premier League club, along with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich interest. There’s suggestions that doubt over the ‘sensitive’ player’s future could be messing with his head.
Potential transfer ‘poker’ in the summer could ‘paralyse’ Werner for the rest of the season, believe the German newspaper.
They make it clear that if he doesn’t extend he’ll be sold in the summer.
