Denzel Dumfries this week spoke to the media from the Dutch 2024 camp and made it clear he’s very happy at Inter Milan.
The fullback did say he’s had a long term aim to play Premier League football, but insinuated he wants to stay at Inter this summer. Those comments may have partly made to put some pressure on the Serie A side, with contract renewals ongoing.
Gianluca Di Marzio now says the situation is on standby, renewal talks are not progressing, and Inter are looking at Aston Villa’s Matty Cash.
The Aston Villa player has been linked with several clubs this summer, and if Unai Emery’s side are looking for money then Cash is one way to go.
Inter Milan are concerned about allowing Dumfries to go into the final year of his contract, with the potential of a free transfer appearing on the horizon. The player himself, though, doesn’t seem too concerned about that.
Should there be a chance to sell Cash and then kill the Douglas Luiz drama-deal, that would certainly be fan-pleasing.
Both for Aston Villa supporters and those following Inter, given they’d love their club to have played a part in stopping Juve getting the Brazilian.
