One of the reasons why AS Roma’s Alisson was such an attraction for Liverpool was his price tag.

The Brazilian, unlike Jan Oblak, was relatively cheap in today’s market (around €40m or so), compared to the Slovakian, whose release clause stands at €100m.

The reason behind this relatively low price tag was Roma’s need for money come the end of the season to meet FFP regulations, and selling their star goalkeeper would have allowed them to keep other members of the squad in the process.

However, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday, the further the Italian side go in the Champions League, the more they’ll be able to ask for Alisson, much to Liverpool’s annoyance.

With more money coming in, the Serie A club don’t have to sell at a low price, and it showed recently, as the same newspaper on Friday reveal Roma rejected a €40m offer from Napoli for the 25-year-old.

However, since then, Monchi has personally quashed this story, claiming he ‘smiled’ when he saw the reports.

Still, if possible, Eusebio di Francesco would like to keep Alisson around for an extra year, and Monchi will try and ensure that happens.

Of course, if silly money were to be put in front of them, turning it down would be very difficult, but, Liverpool fans, you might want to hope AS Roma get knocked out fairly soon if you want the goalkeeper at your club next season.
