Every few days now there are articles in the German media on the future of Dodi Lukebakio.
The Watford owned youngster has been impressing on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf so far this season. It’s not all been plain sailing, and there have been repeat concerns with the player’s attitude both on and off the pitch.
That hasn’t dampened transfer interest.
This week’s edition of SportBild explains Fortuna face a near impossible task of keeping the player beyond the period of his loan.
Champions League level clubs are interested, with the German magazine naming Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim.
The latter is thought to be excluded, because a source has told SportBild that Watford’s asking price will start at €20m+. Too much for them.
Fans of the Premier League club may well feel there should be no asking price, and the player be given a chance next season.
That of course remains possible, and SportBild may be wrong, but should Javi Gracia have concerns about the player’s approach then there’s going to be no shortage of interest.
