The German media today adds a new name to the list of players that Liverpool are pursuing this summer.
According to Fussball Transfers, the Reds are interested in Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.
It’s claimed that the player has ‘admirers’ at Liverpool, as they look for a left-footed centre-back.
The outlet claims the Reds had Micky van de Ven and Castello Lukeba in sight, but they ended up moving to Tottenham Hotspur and RB Leipzig, respectively.
Now Liverpool should also worry about the competition from West Ham United, as they had already been interested in Hincapie in the winter and remain in the running for him.
The story doesn’t say how much the Premier League clubs would need to spend to get the defender signed this summer, but he did recently renew his contract at Leverkusen until 2027, giving them room to negotiate.
Bayer Leverkusen only spent €6.35m to buy him from Argentine side Talleres in 2021, and he’s now valued by Transfermarkt at €35m.
Fussball Transfers says RB Leipzig are another club who are keen on signing him, so it all indicates that we could see an auction for the Ecuadorian on the final days of the transfer window.
