AS Roma are eyeing up a move for Celtic fullback Jeremie Frimpong, who is being monitored by manager Paulo Fonseca’s agent.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say Fonseca is a fan of the 20-year-old right-back and would like to sign him in January.
Frimpong has been a big hit at Celtic since arriving in a £342,000 deal from Manchester City’s U23 side in September 2019.
He’s now first choice at the Scottish giants, and his performances have seemingly not gone unnoticed in Europe and particularly Italy.
Corriere state that Roma manager Fonseca ‘likes’ Frimpong and he is being ‘monitored’ by the Portuguese’s boss’ agent Marco Abreu.
It’s claimed they ‘will try to make an operation’ in January as they are looking to improve the squad, although they are also hoping for sales as well.
There is no mention of what proposal they may offer Celtic, or even whether the Bhoys will sanction a deal, just that the intention is there.
They may need to decide to make a move first, though, with it also explained that club chief Ryan Friedkin is ‘personally involved’ in bringing in Bryan Reynolds from FC Dallas.
It seems unlikely they’d look to sign both, but Celtic should be wary anyway, with interest in their man very much there.
