Celtic defender Mikael Lustig has told the Swedish media he’s spoken to Brendan Rodgers about his future at the club.
In recent weeks the Sweden international has been linked with a move back to his home country following reports Celtic could look to replace him.
Speaking to SportBladet, Lustig was asked what Rodgers’ plans were for him at Celtic: “We have a good dialogue and I know what he wants. There’s still a few months left and a few weeks of this window. First of all, we need to see what they do in this transfer window.”
In November there were reports in Sweden that Lustig was being lined up for a move to AIK after claims Seb Larsson was trying to persuade him to join the Swedish champions. The Celtic right back played down these rumours, stating he, by chance, went on a night out with his international teammate whilst on a trip to Stockholm.
However, with the Scottish champions being linked with FC Porto’s Fernando Fonseca, this has put further doubt on Lustig’s future at Celtic Park.
Celtic have the option to extend the Swede’s contract for another season but they may choose not to activate this if Fonseca is brought in.
