Following hints from Kristoffer Ajer’s agent the Celtic versatile defender could leave in the summer, certain members of the Italian press have started getting giddy.
Tore Pedersen told NTB in Norway back in March there were no plans of extending his client’s contract at Parkhead, which has led to speculation of teams like Milan being potential landing spots for the 21-year-old.
However, with suggestions of Premier League competition such as Leicester City, where Ajer would reunite with Brendan Rodgers, also being in the mix, it means the Italians might have to move fast.
Calciomercato have an article on the matter on Friday, explaining Milan have had the Norwegian ‘in their sights’ for some time, and with the player’s entourage ‘already communicating to Celtic his intention to leave Glasgow next summer’, this could be the time to pounce.
It’s stated ‘this decision [from Ajer] has generated some discomfort’ within the Scottish club, who are expected to ask for a ‘rather high sum’ before starting talks regarding a possible sale.
No number is mentioned, but if it comes down to Leicester and Milan in a bidding war, our money is on the Premier League side.
