Celtic have still not been thrown out of the race for Mexican defender Edson Alvarez.
To recall this rumour, we must go back to December 2018, when the Hoops were being heavily linked to the Club America defender.
At the time, it had been claimed that a Celtic official had been following the player, but the Mexican side’s plan was to keep him in their squad for longer, and that’s why a January move was ruled out.
Now with national team manager Tata Martino claiming that Alvarez is ready to play in Europe, all the rumours about a transfer are back on track.
Outlet Esto claims that Inter Milan are pretty keen on signing him this summer, and recalls that Celtic ‘tried to take him to Scotland’ in the last transfer market.
Meanwhile, other websites like Nacion Deportes and America Monumental all put Celtic and PSV side by side with Inter Milan in the race.
It wasn’t revealed how much the Scottish side offered for Alvarez in January, but with bigger competition now, he would certainly be more expensive for Neil Lennon’s side.
