Charly Musonda must be incredibly unlucky.
Not used at Chelsea earlier this season for reasons he seemingly couldn’t fathom, a stance shared by many fans, Musonda was sent on loan to Celtic to show everyone what they were missing.
Now he’s not being used by Brendan Rodgers for reasons the player and Chelsea, according to claims, can’t fathom.
Musonda is a very confident young footballer and at times it’s felt that confidence has spilled into impatience spurred by arrogance. If Chelsea managers haven’t been falling over themselves to pick the footballer and Rodgers isn’t keen at Celtic then it would suggest there’s perhaps an issue, or Musonda isn’t as far along in his development as he believes.
He’s already had a social media strop, removing anything Celtic related and then putting things back, and this isn’t a new tactic for the youngster.
Belgian newspaper HLN cover the situation on Wednesday and say Chelsea are considering cutting the Celtic loan short.
Interestingly it’s stated Chelsea feel Musonda may have been lured to the Scottish Premiership by ‘false promises’ from Rodgers, and that the manager did similar with Jose McEachren and Victor Moses earlier in his career.
McEachren was with Rodgers at Swansea City, and Moses at Liverpool.
In reality, Musonda probably hasn’t quite shown enough at Celtic yet, and Rodgers may feel his attitude isn’t entirely right. It would be a surprise if Chelsea are genuinely annoyed, because they’ve been through all this themselves with the player.
The 21 year old is a talented footballer, everyone is waiting for him to explode, but perhaps there’s a little something missing just now.
