According to claims in the Greek media, Celtic have made an offer to AEK for Vasilios Barkas.
The Scottish Premiership champions have long been linked with a move for the Greek goalkeeper, and there are now claims they’ve made an official bid.
With the uncertainty over whether Fraser Forster will remain at Celtic Park, Neil Lennon could be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer. There have been recent reports Lennon has told the Southampton loanee he needs to make a decision soon with regards to remaining at the club.
According to Enwsi.gr, as covered by Sdna, the Bhoys have offered €3.5m upfront, in addition to a €1m bonus.
However, it’s reported AEK are holding for €7m if they are to sell Barkas, and Celtic need to raise their offer to convince the Greek club.
The 26 year old has been a key player for Massimo Carrera’s side this season, keeping 16 clean sheets in 33 appearances in all competitions.
Barkas has also been linked with a move to newly promoted Premier League side Leeds United in the past. His contract with AEK will expire at the end of June 2022.
