Back in 2016, Celtic were still very much a team playing relatively regularly in the Champions League, with that year being a particularly tough group.
They faced Manchester City, Barcelona and Borussia Monchengladbach, and one of their losses came at Celtic Park against the Germans.
It was a 2-0 loss, with André Hahn having a hand in both goals, scoring one and assisting the other, which ended up being the only win the Bundesliga side would pick up from the group.
Now at Augsburg, the winger was interviewed by RP-Online, where they pointed out that his goal against Celtic for the win at Parkhead is still ‘fondly remembered by the fans’.
The player replied: “It was amazing to score my first Champions League goal in a stadium like this, in front of these fans, including great Borussia fans. The Celtic fans threw their scarves in the guest block as a sign of recognition.”
It’s clearly something that stuck with the player all these years, despite him playing more often with his current side than he did with Gladbach.
That goal against Celtic is still in the only one he has scored in the Champions League proper to date, as he has another in the qualifiers of that same year, scoring one against Young Boys in a 24 minute cameo.
