Celtic are set to make a bid for FC Union striker Sebastian Andersson but face competition from French side Lille for his signature.
That’s according to Kicker, who say Celtic will submit a €6m bid for the striker ‘shortly’ having been linked to him earlier this summer.
The Bhoys were linked earlier this summer, with Kicker reporting at the time that Celtic, as well as Newcastle United, were looking at the striker, who has 12 goals and three assists in the Bundesliga this season.
They’ve now followed that up, and state Neil Lennon’s side are preparing to make an offer as they look to bolster their ranks.
The newspaper states Celtic are set to become ‘concrete’ and submit a €6m bid, but Lille are another who could make their move.
Whether that is a price FC Union would accept isn’t mentioned, but Andersson does have a release clause in his contract in the ‘mid-single-digit range’.
That depends on where he ends up, though, as English clubs have to pay up to 30% more than German clubs.
Whether this applies to Celtic isn’t mentioned, but the newspaper does make clear it is ‘English’ sides so presumably not.
However, that clause expires in ‘early August’ so they expect his future to be determined in the next two weeks.
Andersson, for his part, still has the ‘dream’ of playing the Premier League but it is Celtic and Lille who are currently pushing hardest for his signature.
