Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot has been on the radar of Barcelona and is one of the main objectives for the La Liga winners in 2019, along with Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and Frenkie de jong of Ajax.
Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims October will be ‘decisive’ for the 23-year-old. His current deal at Parc des Princes runs down at the end of the season and he expects the club president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, to make a great effort to try to retain him.
The La Liga winners have been in ‘permanent’ contact with the France international’s mother and agent, while they have been closely watching his situation at the club. The Blaugrana are confident in regards to the player as they have Rabiot and his entourage’s trust, despite ‘harassment’ from PSG and other clubs.
It’s claimed in France that he already has an offer of €10m-a-year plus €15m as a signing on bonus to join Ernesto Valverde’s, but the Spanish champions fear that his club could blow their efforts by offering him an annual salary of €20m.
Mundo also claims as of today there is ‘basic agreement’ between the player and Barcelona to make a switch to the Camp Nou as a free agent next summer, and this is mainly because of the technical secretary, Eric Abidal, putting in good work, which includes being in direct contact with the player and his mother.
A failure from his side to tie him to a new deal before the end of this year will then allow him to sign a pre-contract agreement from the start of next year.
