Cardiff City target Oguzhan Ozkayup has confirmed to the Turkish media he’s very close to signing a contract extension with Besiktas.
The Turkey international has been linked with Cardiff City in recent weeks, after claims the Championship side have tabled a bid for the player.
The Besiktas captain has spoken to reporters at the team’s winter training camp, and he said, as quoted by Haber1903.com: “There’s not even a chance that I’ll face problems with Besiktas regarding my contract extension. It’s like my home, and my family.
“I’m very happy here. As our president previously said, the club will make an official announcement soon.”
Last month we covered reports from Turkey that Cardiff City have offered Besiktas €7m for Ozyakup, but the player isn’t too keen on a move to the English second tier.
These claims came after reports Besiktas are interested in signing Cardiff City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson if Ozyakup doesn’t extend his contract.
However, with the former Arsenal player set to commit himself to Besiktas, it’s unlikely they will continue to pursue the Cardiff City star.
Everton have also been linked with Ozyakup in the past few weeks.
