Two days ago, Lille joined Cardiff City in the race to sign Vålerenga Fotball’s Andrej Ilić in the winter market.
On Tuesday, TV2 stated the Norwegian club rejected the Ligue 1 side’s offer of €3.75m plus €750,000 in bonuses because they didn’t offer a sell-on clause. It was also explained that Cardiff City were still leading the race but had to rush to secure the deal.
Lille have now returned to sign the Cardiff City target if a fresh report from TV2 is to be believed.
It’s said the French club are offering in excess of NOK 50m [€4.4m], including NOK 40m [€3.5m] as fixed fee. They have agreed a deal with Vålerenga and the documents are still to be signed. This is a record sale for Vålerenga.
Lille are negotiating personal terms with the 23-year-old, who’s set to make a switch to France.
With regards to the Championship side, TV2 explain that they ‘almost agreed’ a deal with Vålerenga, but never received the approval from the Serbian forward.
Ilić is now edging closer towards a move to Lille and will be a blow for Cardiff City.
