On Tuesday, various claims from the UK media stated Cardiff City have identified IK Sirius Fotboll’s Yousef Salech as a target for the winter market.
The Championship side have made firm progress in their efforts to sign the 22-year-old.
That’s according to Expressen, and they state the Swedish club have agreed a deal with Cardiff City for SEK 45m [€3.9m].
There’s no mention of the Welsh club’s agreement with Salech, but that’s unlikely to be a problem considering the report states only his medical tests and official announcement is missing.
Sirus invested €6m to buy the Dane from Brøndby IF in February 2024 and he managed 13 goals and three assists from 29 games. Earlier this month, the Swedish club sold Malcolm John Matarr Jeng to Stade Reims for a club-record fee of SEK 35m [€2.6m].
The centre forward’s move to Omer Riza’s side will now be Sirus’ new club-record sale.
Cardiff City are currently 21st in the table with 24 points, a point ahead of 22nd placed Portsmouth [have two games in hand] and three points ahead of bottom placed Plymouth Argyle.
