France Football report that whilst Adrien Tameze has been linked with a January move to Watford, it’s not the Hornets who are pushing most for the signing.
Another club from the Premier League, Cardiff City, are now ahead of Javi Gracia’s side in the race to sign the 24-year-old.
It is explained the Bluebirds are planning to recruit the Lille-born player, who is contracted to the Ligue 1 club until 2021, in the winter market.
The Welsh outfit would have formulated an offer of €8.5m to bring the defensive midfielder to the Cardiff City Stadium.
Nice, on the other hand, have a surplus of defensive midfielders, which is why France Football say they ‘could be a seller’ in Tameze’s case in order to balance the squad.
Tameze has started in every league game this season, and has three more starts for Patrick Vieira’s side in the cup competitions.
Five days ago it was reported in France that Watford had ‘commissioned agents’ to find out about the possibility of signing the player, whereas Cardiff were preparing a €10m offer.
