Chelsea cannot be ruled out as an option for Sevilla star Jules Koundé this summer as they fit the profile of club he is looking for.

That’s according to El Desmarque, who cover the player’s situation this summer as he is heavily linked with a move.

Koundé has been linked with all the top clubs in Europe over the last two years, having established himself among the hottest prospects in the game.

Sevilla are open to a sale this summer if they can get €80m for him, although none of the big clubs have come calling at this moment in time.

Koundé himself has made it clear he would like to make the step up this year but is focused on a move to a big European side, which may be difficult as finances are tight following the COVID pandemic.

Indeed, his options have been shortening over the last few weeks as clubs have targeted other options and overlooked him.

Another issue is the availability of Raphael Varane, who provides the big sides Koundé is dreaming of with ‘more confidence’.

Two options left to Koundé are Chelsea and Manchester United, and it ‘can’t be ruled out’ that the Blues will make the ‘expected move’ when the latter pushes for Varane.

They have the ‘money, prestige and ambitious objectives’ to satisfy the defender, who has made such things the ‘prerequisites’ for a transfer this summer.

At the minute, it appears they have not made a move and are still focused on Varane, which makes sense and has been widely reported over the last few months.

Should he end up going elsewhere, though, especially to Old Trafford, then there is a feeling Chelsea will turn their attention to Koundé, something he’ll be more than happy with.
