Leeds United have a new partnership.
Following the link ups with Aspire, which looks to have been wrapped in a potential will to invest in the Championship club one day, this week they announced a collaboration with Foot Talent.
The scouting and training initiative in Spain will, in theory, help Leeds identify young talents in the country and get in for transfers ahead of the competition.
Leeds’ explained on Tuesday that the agreement is with Foot Talent’s director Gorka Etxeberria.
He is also director of Spanish Segunda Division B club Unionistas de Salamanca CF, who of course use the Foot Talent network.
He made it clear that in a practical sense, it could see Leeds identify talents through the system this summer, sign them, and then loan them out to Unionistas, suggesting there’s a wider plan to the initial announcement.
The director explained: “I think it’s very important (Leeds United joining) for Foot Talent because it gives us one more point of prestige. The platform reaches another level.
“We’ll see if we bring something from there. One formula is that if they like a guy from Foot Talent, they sign him and give him to us.”
