It’s now time for the Portuguese media to back-up Burnley’s interest in Carlos Carvalhal.
Following reports from the English press on this chase, outlet Desporto Ao Minuto comes up with a report which backs up the possibility of the manager taking charge of the Clarets.
The outlet writes that Carvalhal is indeed leaving Braga at the end of the season, as his contract expires in the summer and he ‘should not renew’ the deal. Now he could return to the United Kingdom.
With Desporto Ao Minuto only confirming the interest, they bring no details on how far the negotiations have reached so far.
On Thursday morning, Portuguese newspapers were mainly talking about Carvalhal’s potential departure from Braga. Record insisted there’ll be a last meeting between him and club president Antonio Salvador at the end of the season, but the scenario makes it look like he’s on his way out.
A Bola pointed out Burnley were still to formally show their interest. Still, local newspapers see his return to the UK as a pretty viable option, as the manager always seemed happy about his experiences at Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City.
