Ameen Al-Dakhil is not thinking about a move away from Burnley in the January transfer window but will ‘soon want more clarity’ from manager Vincent Kompany over his role at Turf Moor.
That’s according to L’Avenir, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, who say Burnley don’t have to worry about the centre-back for the time being.
The newspaper explains that there are growing concerns around Al-Dakhil in Belgium at this moment in time as he’s somewhat fallen off the radar at the club in recent weeks.
He was a regular under Vincent Kompany for the for the first 10 matchdays of the season but from the 11th onwards things have gone downhill, and he’s been left out of the squad seven times, been on the bench one and made one substitute appearance.
He appears to have lost his position under the Belgian boss, which is concerning back home as he was set to be a part of Domenico Tedesco’s plans for Euro 2024.
He’s already called the defender up a number of times for the Red Devils but couldn’t risk calling him up moving forwards if he remains out of the picture.
That, naturally, has led to some speculation he could look to move on but L’Avenir report that the 21-year-old ‘is not thinking about a winter departure’ from Burnley for the time being.
It seems he is willing to stay at Turf Moor and fight for his place, but they do say that the player ‘will soon want more clarity from Kompany’ on his position in the squad.
Bluntly, the belief is that he will be seeking something of a showdown with the Burnley boss to find out if he still believes in him or it would be better to gain experience elsewhere, particularly with Euro 2024 in the viewfinder.
He will seek those talks sooner rather than later and he may be a name to keep an eye on in the coming weeks as a result, particularly if he continues to not get the game time he wants.
