A few days ago, German daily Bild reported Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing Schalke star Max Meyer for Liverpool, after missing out on Leroy Sane.
Schalke sporting director’s, Christian Heidel, however, confirmed to Bild, a couple of days later, talks about Meyer signing for Liverpool are ‘nonsense’, and that he spoke to Klopp recently, but he never mentioned the Schalke star.
Max Meyer has been speaking to German media outlet Kicker, and was asked about Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
He said: “He is a great coach. I know from the past that he appreciates me as a player.
“After my first derby against BVB – when I was 18 years, and have scored a goal – he publicly praised me. That is a nice feeling when such a great coach praises you.”
The 20-year-old maintains he is happy at Schalke, despite rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool.
He added: “I am very happy at Schalke and I’m still very young. I have many more years as a player left in front of me. I feel 100% well here.”
Meyer, however, admits he might want to leave the club one day, if another club is interested in him and the manager also appreciates him as a player.
“It’s not that I have to play absolutely till the end of my career at my home. You could someday at least consider new experiences, if another club is interested and perhaps the coach especially appreciates me as a player.”
Meyer has dropped the hint quite well here.
