The transfer of Ruben Vinagre from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Sporting should be closed in the coming days, according to reports.

Newspaper O Jogo today features a story saying Wolves new manager Bruno Lage has given the ‘green light’ for the move, so the clubs can carry on with the process now.

The outlet says Wolverhampton and Sporting have already agreed on a loan deal and now discuss the price for a buying option.

The Lions want it to be of less than €10m, and it’s likely to be the around €8.7m.

It’s claimed that Wolves’ priority was to sell Vinagre, but with the market still not back to full strength, the loan with an option for a permanent move was the solution they found.

Vinagre had two loans last season, first at Olympiacos and then at Famalicão. It was at the Portuguese side that he managed to draw the attention from other local clubs such as Benfica and Sporting.

There was some expectation if his new compatriot manager would like to keep the player in the squad, but it now looks like he was never in Lage’s plans at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
