Even though Manchester United fans thought they could face the likes of Inter Milan, Sevilla or Wolves in the next stage of the Europa League, the draw surprised everyone with Austrian side LASK.
But it turns out the Red Devils’ next opponent actually had a pretty good campaign so far, coming on top of a group which had Sporting, PSV and Rosenborg.
Therefore, LASK aren’t unknown to Bruno Fernandes. The midfielder faced them in October in Lisbon, with Sporting winning the game 2-1.
Naturally, Bruno was at the centre of everything.
LASK opened the scoring, but then the midfielder took a corner which led to the equaliser, and then scored the winner with a good shot across the goal.
Sporting lost the final game of the group stage 3-0 in Austria, but Bruno missed that match due to suspension. They certainly missed him.
Bruno Fernandes has six goals and two assists in the Europa League this season, including his goal against Club Brugge on Thursday evening.
Manchester United play LASK in Austria on March 12th and then at Old Trafford on the 19th.
