According to a claim in the Italian media, Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ales Mateju is on the verge of joining Brescia.
The 22 year old only signed for Brighton last summer, but didn’t make an appearance for Chris Hughton’s side in the Premier League, playing just two games in the EFL Cup.
Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio reports Mateju is expected to have his medical today ahead of his proposed move to Brescia. It’s claimed the Brighton player will initially join the Serie B side on loan, with an obligatory redemption fee of €5m.
Last summer, former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino purchased Brescia and it’s expected there will be plenty of transfer at the Italian club this summer.
Cellino has plans to get Brescia back into Serie A and it seems Mateju will be part of the process.
The right back is contracted to Brighton until June 2020.
