Fresh from their automatic promotion after finishing second in the Championship, Brighton & Hove Albion are preparing for a tough season in the Premier League, and one of their first priorities was to bring in a new goalkeeper.
That man appears to be Valencia’s Mathew Ryan, with news emerging a few days ago that talks were ongoing between the Seagulls and Los Ches, and now AS in Spain are saying the deal will be announced soon.
The Spanish newspaper report that Brighton will pay around €6m to bring the Australian goalkeeper to Falmer Stadium, while the 25-year-old will be paid around €3m/year by the newly promoted Premier League side.
Ryan has already said yes to Brighton, and an announcement is said to be imminent, expected to come after Australia-Brazil, which finished at around 1pm on Tuesday.
Unfortunately for the Valencia goalkeeper, he was on the end of a 4-0 thumping.
Still, he should be able to console himself with a move to the Premier League in the coming hours.
