Over the summer, while preparing for a tough season in the Premier League, Brighton & Hove Albion targeted a few lesser known players, like Moses Simon, with hope they could become the next best thing.

The 2w-year-old winger, currently at Gent in Belgium, was even the subject of a bid from the Seagulls, which was rejected by the Jupiler Pro League side.

Speaking to Sport/Foot in Belgium about his former manager, Hein Vanhaezebrouck, now in charge of Anderlecht, the winger was also briefly questioned about his failed move to AMEX Stadium.

He said: “The club never found an agreement with Michel Louwagie (their technical director). Other than that, it was a good club for me. Not the best, but I had chances of playing.

“Because of the colonial past, the English league is a favourite for Nigerians”.

This comes about a month after he told OwnGoalNigeria.com he was ‘devastated’ at the time of the move breaking down, but that he was still happy at Gent until next year.

So far this season, Moses Simon has scored three goals and picked up one assist in 13 appearances for Gent, but is currently out with a foot injury.

Already scoring as many goals as he did last year in 22 league appearances, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Brighton, alongside other Premier League clubs, knocking on Gent’s door next summer.
