Following a six-month loan spell at Serie A side Genoa, it seems Brighton & Hove Albion defender Leo Østigard could end up staying in Italian football.
According to Sky Sport (via I Am Naples), it’s now Napoli who are interested in signing the 22-year-old, and are currently in talks to land him this summer.
It’s said the club already offered Brighton a fee of €3m, plus performance bonuses and a percentage of a future sale, suggesting a new (likely one-year) contract is on the way for the Norwegian, as his current deal at the Amex expires at the end of the month.
The details regarding those add-ons are still to be defined, and as claimed by Sky, there will be ‘new meetings’ to find the ‘final agreement’ in the coming days.
Østigard’s loans from Brighton have been going on for a while.
He joined the Seagulls in 2018, and after an year at the club, he started leavins on spells at St. Pauli, Coventry City, Stoke City and finally Genoa.
With Napoli now giving Graham Potter’s side a chance of making a few millions, perhaps a deal could be interesting for all parties involved.
