Peter Gwargis has been restricted to only three EFL Cup appearances since he joined Brighton & Hove Albion from Jönköpings Södra in 2018. Two of those appearances with the Seagulls’ first team were from this season.
The 20-year-old has had to settle for minutes in the Premier League 2 and he hasn’t been happy with his situation at The Amex.
In November, the forward expressed his disappointment and stressed the need for him to go out on loan to experience first team football.
The Swede is still at Brighton and didn’t get himself a move away from Graham Potter’s side in the winter market.
On March 11th, Expressen reported Gwargis has verbally reached an agreement with Malmö FF for a transfer. His contract with the English side runs down at the end of the season and it was stated Malmö is set to be his next club.
“I’m at Brighton right now so there is not much to say about it. Everyone knows who Malmö are in Sweden. It’s one of the biggest clubs in Sweden, it’s a nice club. They have a long and great history with many titles,” he said.
When asked if he had any contact with Malmö, the Brighton player said: “No, I’ve not. No, not exactly [if he knows anyone at Malmö].”
Gwargis also detailed the main factor he will have to consider when deciding his next destination.
“I feel like I need to get football in me and that’s the most important thing for me. I’ll play until the end of the season, whether it’s at Brighton or if it’s going to be somewhere else after that we’ll see,” the Swede stressed.
“I’ve matured as a human being and developed my game. Mostly I’ve evolved as a person. I left home and have learned to live on my own and manage on my own. It’s been a good time.”
