Brighton & Hove Albion appear to be inches away from getting what they want with striker Deniz Undav; Stuttgart paying €20m to sign him permanently.
That’s at least if their sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth’s latest comments are anything to go by, with him suggesting they’ll simply pay up to get the striker this summer.
Undav has been enjoying himself on loan at Stuttgart all season, joining from Brighton in the summer and not looking back, bagging 18 goals and 10 assists in 28 games so far despite only playing in 67% of the available minutes.
Stuttgart have wanted to sign him permanently for a while but have been erring on doing so, with the €20m clause they negotiated with Brighton in the summer considered too high.
BILD confirm that price point today, stating that the purchase figure is around €20m but the German club want to sign him regardless of it.
The belief now is that they will do so around the last game of the season against Borussia Monchengladbach on May 18th.
And Wohlgemuth has hinted as much as well, insisting they wouldn’t be talking to Brighton about the striker if they couldn’t afford the deal.
“He is important for the dressing room, mood maker and yet self -critical. We will generate Champions League revenue and we would not be in conversations if we cannot afford it,” he said when asked about the matter.
