Think back to the January transfer window, and you’ll remember that Cadiz were desperate to get rid of Brighton and Hove Albion striker Florin And one.
Throughout the month, we covered reports that the Spanish side were keen to end the Romanian striker’s loan deal early.
That’s because he’s been a major disappointment since arriving from Brighton in the summer transfer window, with just one goal in nine games all season.
Indeed, he hasn’t played in La Liga since a 2-0 defeat to Osasuna at the beginning of January, instead only being used in the Copa del Rey.
Four of his nine appearances have came in that competition, a number which indicates the reduced role he’s played all season.
Throughout January, it was made clear those in charge wanted rid so they could spend their money elsewhere, and now we know why.
The release of those figures alone is controversial but Andone’s figure of €2,174,400 per season is ‘even more controversial’ given his performances on the pitch have left ‘a lot to be desired’.
To put it into comparison, Pacha Espino and Alvaro Negredo are the next on the list with figures of €965,120 apiece.
In other words, the Brighton man has not been anywhere near good value, and it’s now clear why the club were so keen to get rid in January given the money they could have saved or used on someone who’d prove far more useful.
