Oliver Sonne has bee advised to avoid living in Burnley now he’s signed for the club, at least according to ‘legend’ Brian ‘The Beast’ Jensen.
He’s been speaking to Tipsbladet today about the 24-year-old’s move to Turf Moor today, offering his own advice on how to be a success at the club.
Sonne completed a move to Burnley on New Year’s Day, moving to Turf Moor in a €3m move from Silkeborg FC.
It’s his first move outside of Denmark but he is not the first player from the country to sign for the Championship side.
In fact, he is officially the fourth player from Denmark to move to Turf Moor, following in the footsteps of Lukas Jensen, Brian Jensen, Anders Lindegaard and Jacob Bruun Larsen.
Brian Jensen was undoubtedly the most successful of that quartet, making 309 appearances for Burnley in a ten-year spell from 2003 to 2013.
That means Jensen is well placed to offer advice on a move to the club and how to make a success of it, and it seems, at least according to him, that involves not living in Burnley.
“The first thing he has to do is give it a shot,” he said.
“As long as he does that, there shouldn’t be any problems. There’s the attitude that you have to earn your money. If you give it your all and show the right attitude, you have a good chance and have won the first game.
“You can come up against a good team, but if you work harder than them, you have a chance. That’s the first thing he has to do. If the fans can see that, then it’s the quality that shows what he can do.
“He probably won’t live there. There are some areas, and he will probably find something 10-20 kilometres away or closer to Manchester. There are also some really good areas, but directly inside Burnley and the local area he must stay away.”
