Other than Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Manchester United don’t really have a natural right-back.

It’s worked out rather fine for them so far, since the former Crystal Palace starlet has hardly been injured, but there comes a point where he will need both added competition in the role, and a rest.

That’s why we’ve seen a number of stories linking Manchester United with Kieran Trippier, who is currently at Atlético Madrid.

They’ve been fuelled by the English media for the most part, but Mundo Deportivo on Thursday bring an interesting piece of information suggesting the La Liga side could be forced to sell this summer.

It’s not definitive, but it’s explained that as of June 30th, British nationals will become non-EU citizens for teams across the Channel.

That was meant to happen on January 1st, but an agreement ‘was reached with the different federations to extend the deadline’ until the end of this month.

Basically, ‘as of July 1st, Trippier must occupy a foreign spot, which would be a problem for Atlético’.

That’s because both Felipe and Renan Lodi are already using the two allocated, and the quota is full.

This could become a problem for Atlético Madrid, who may be forced to sell to interested parties, which may or may not include Manchester United, but ‘there is hope that a new agreement will be produced’ so that players who were signed before the new Brexit rules came in place remain unaffected.
