Aaron Hickey’s development at Bologna has not gone unnoticed and he’s caught the attention of several clubs, including Brentford.
Operating mainly as a left wing-back, he made 36 appearances in the 2021/22 season, managing five goals and an assist in the process. His performances for the Serie A side seem to have convinced the Bees to make an approach for him.
Friday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport states that Bologna received a ‘concrete offer’ from Brentford for the 19-year-old in the ‘past few hours’.
The Scotland international is young and has ‘potential to be scary’, which convinced Bologna to invest €1.5m on securing his services in 2020.
Thomas Frank relied upon Rico Henry on the left side of defence last season. That has not stopped Brentford from making a concrete proposal of around €11m plus a percentage of a future sale, to take Hickey away from Bologna.
However, the Premier League side’s offer is ‘still very little’ for the Italian club, who aim to collect at least €20m from the fullback/wingback’s sale.
Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Hickey and with Brentford now joining the mix by making an offer, Gazzetta state ‘there will be an auction’ this summer.
