Despite a very good start to their first season in the Premier League, if there is one thing Brentford are missing, it’s goals.

Scoring just 16 in 12 games to date, three of which came in the 3-3 draw against Newcastle United, the Bees are struggling to get fully going up front, as star striker Ivan Toney only has three in the league to his name to date.

While they are also solid defensively, there could be a need to find the back of the net more often in the coming months if they are to keep their heads above the relegation zone, and those could come from Belgium.

According to Jeunes Footeux, Brentford have turned their attention to Dante Vanzeir, who has been scoring for fun in the Jupiler Pro League.

With 10 goals and six assists in 15 league games, the 23-year-old has also managed to pick his first Belgium cap earlier this month, showcasing just how quickly his status is rising in his home country.

The outlet claim Brentford are joined by Brighton and Champions League club Atalanta in the race to sign the player, whom Transfermarkt currently value at €3m.

That being said, it’s made very clear that any club interested in signing Vanzeir would need ‘a lot more’ than that figure to convince surprise Jupiler Pro League leaders Royale Union Saint-Gilloise to part ways with their star man in January.
