Brentford will need to move quickly if they wish to secure the signing of FC Cincinnati striker Brandon Vazquez as Rayados de Monterrey push to get a deal over the line.
That’s according to Marca, who cover comments and information from journalists Felipe Gallindo and Willie Gonzalez, who say the Mexican side could be close to winning the race for the 25-year-old.
Vazquez was linked with a move to Brentford earlier this week, with it claimed that they were in negotiations to secure him in January and at the front of the queue for his signature.
Galindo goes the other way, though, and instead states that ‘there is already an agreement’ between Cincinnati and Rayados for the striker.
He does point out that the player is yet to sign an agreement with the Mexican side, but Marca then add information from Willie Gonzalez, who claims that Vazquez has a ‘verbal agreement’ in place for a transfer and all that is missing is his signature.
Thus, it appears Brentford are going to miss out on their man, with these latest reports indicating that Vazquez is one step away from Mexico.
Now it should be made clear that the report earlier this week indicated he was completely uninterested in such a switch, so why there’s been such a sudden change remains to be found out.
Either way, if Brentford are interested in the forward, they now need to put their cards on the table as their transfer rivals are already moving to get a deal over the line.
