Celtic still have a chance to sign Swiss defender Reto Ziegler, after the player failed to find a new club during the window.
The 31 year old is a free agent following his release from FC Sion at the end of last season, and the former Tottenham Hotspur player was linked with Celtic during the summer.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers made initial steps to sign Ziegler, but a deal never materialised for the Scottish Premiership champions. The Swiss international confirmed he was in talks with Celtic, along with Spanish side Real Betis.
Celtic interest didn’t seem to go much further, without it being claimed that either Ziegler had turned the Scottish Premiership champions down, or Rodgers had moved on to other targets.
However, Ziegler is still without a club despite holding talks with Sion last month about a return to the club. Clubs like Celtic would be able to sign the defender outside the window due to the player being a free agent, and he could be a good addition to Rodgers’ squad.
