A Gabriel Jesus fake account has been having some fun and spreading rumours on Twitter.
On Friday, after liking one of the stories which linked the player to Manchester United, he tweeted: “It would be an honor to play in a giant club like Manchester 👍🏾”.
It didn’t take long before the fans started believing that he was insinuating a deal could. It even became a story written by the Metro. Perhaps we didn’t need the ‘even’ there.
Speaking to Sport Witness, Gabriel’s agent Cristiano Simões has confirmed it’s a fake account: “Gabriel Jesus has no Twitter.”
When asked if there are any updates about Manchester United’s interest on the 19-year-old, the agent was short and clear: “No.”
Manchester United and Manchester City are said to be in the race for the player, according to this week’s reports from Estado de São Paulo.
The Red Devils, just like Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG, could sign the striker for €24m due to a clause in his contract. For all other sides, the buyout price is €40m.
The attacker’s economic rights are divided between his club Palmeiras (30%), his agent Cristiano Simões (32.5%), his former agent Fabio Caran (22.5%) and himself (15%).
Gabriel Jesus has 15 goals in 27 games for Palmeiras this year. The wonderkid is one of the biggest hopes in Brazil’s team for the Olympics in August.
